Difference between CANopen and CAN
CAN only defines the physical layer and the link layer, but does not define the user layer. Users can define some communication conventions on the network according to their own needs;
CANopen defines the user layer on the basis of CAN, that is, it specifies the convention for information exchange between users, software, network terminals, etc.
CAN2.0 is a protocol of physical layer and link layer, which is basically implemented by hardware, while CANOpen is an application layer protocol that is basically implemented by software.
