What is the role of CC-Link Terminal resistor?
The terminal resistor is to eliminate signal reflection in the communication cable. During the communication process, there are two reasons for signal reflection: impedance discontinuity and impedance mismatch. The impedance is discontinuous. The signal suddenly encounters little or no cable impedance at the end of the transmission line. The signal will cause reflection at this place. The principle of signal reflection is similar to the reflection of light from one medium into another. To eliminate this reflection, a terminal resistor with the same size as the characteristic impedance of the cable must be connected across the end of the cable to make the impedance of the cable continuous. Since the signal transmission on the cable is bidirectional, a terminal resistor of the same size can be connected across the other end of the communication cable.
The main specifications of CC-Link resistors include resistance, power and accuracy. Resistance is the resistance value of a resistor, usually expressed in ohms. The resistance value of the CC-Link resistor is usually 120. This is because the characteristics of the CC-Link network determine that a resistor with matching impedance needs to be installed at both ends of the bus to ensure normal transmission of signals.
Power is the maximum power a resistor can dissipate, usually expressed in watts. The power of CC-Link resistors is generally 0.25W, which is determined based on the power requirements of the C-Link network and the size of the resistor. Accuracy is the accuracy of the resistance of a resistor, usually expressed as a percentage. The accuracy of CC-Link resistors is typically ±5% because the CC-Link network does not require precise resistor matching.
CC-Link,control and communication link system is an open fieldbus recently launched by Mitsubishi Electric. It has large data capacity, multi-level communication speeds to choose from, and it is a network based on the device layer and can also cover higher-level control layers and lower-level sensing layers
